Training 1 Lower / Central North Island
The first training was held at Wainuiomata marae on 29th, 30th of june and 1st of july.
The training also doubled up as the launch of the programme, which was on the 28th of june, where guest speakers Ihirangi Heke, Harko Brown and Moana Jackson spoke about their experiences with Maori Traditional Games and other kaupapa maori.
Te ara whanui kura kaupapa maori also performed as part of the launch and the event ended with the kura having a game of Ki o Rahi with everyone else joining in later on.
The training consisted of providers from Masterton, Dannevirke, Palmerston North, Whanganui, Porirua and Auckland and with a good mix of people from different areas and backgrounds the training turned out to be an awesome one!!!
One of the many highlights was learning the "Ki o Rahi" waiata created by Paora Johanson but overall everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves and will be sharing their experiences with their people back in their own rohe.
Kia Mau te Wehi!!!!
